The Royal Mint of Segovia (Real Casa de Moneda) is one of the very few 16th-century industrial buildings that survives almost intact in Europe. It stands on the right bank of the Eresma river, just outside the walled old town, a 15-minute walk downhill from the Aqueduct. Opening hours
As a general reference — always confirm on the official page — the museum opens Tuesday to Sunday, with continuous hours during summer and a midday break in low season. It closes on Mondays (except public holidays) and on 1 January, 25 December and 15 August.

Admission fees
- Standard admission: includes the permanent exhibition and any temporary shows on display.
- Reduced admission: students, senior citizens, large families, groups of over 15 people and holders of recognised tourism cards.
- Free admission: children under a certain age, people with disability and one companion, and specific institutional categories (accredited tour guides, teachers on official school visits, etc.).
- Free-entry days: the museum runs open-access days on selected dates — International Museum Day, Heritage Day, Architecture Week and similar occasions.
Guided tours
Guided tours are available in Spanish and, upon request, in English and French. School groups and tourism operators should book in advance to guarantee availability. A standard guided visit lasts around one hour.
Accessibility
Most of the museum is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility, with ramps and lifts in the main areas. The lower factory — the section connected to the hydraulic culverts — includes steps that may require assistance; museum staff will help you through those sections. Audio guides in several languages and accessible materials for visually impaired visitors are available.
Practical tips
- Plan around 1.5 hours for the full visit, including the garden and the Aqueduct interpretation room.
- Combine your visit with a walk along the Eresma valley to the Monastery of El Parral, a 10-minute walk away.
- Wear comfortable shoes: the walk back up to the walled old town includes a steep slope.
